Autumn is bursting with fun in North Texas. And DART is your ticket to a cornucopia of events both indoors and out. Lots is going on within steps of DART Rail – check out the following, and be sure to see what else is happening in the DART Service Area at dart.org/specialevents.
Murders! Mayhem!
Prepare yourself for a night of mystery and mayhem. Texas history comes to life Thursday and Friday, Oct. 27-28, with the candlelight tours of Murders & Mayhem, from 5-7:30 p.m. at the Farmers Branch Historical Park. The tours are inspired by the works of Edgar Allan Poe and actual historical events. The park is just a five-minute walk from the Farmers Branch Station. For more information, visit fbhistoricalpark.com.
Steinfest
At this annual event, historic downtown Plano is transformed into a giant party in the tradition of Oktoberfest. Expect live music, German beer and sausage, games, contests, commemorative steins, T-shirts and more. There are food vendors, plus more than a dozen restaurants right in the middle of all the action. It happens Oct. 29 on 15th Street, near Downtown Plano Station. You won’t get any thinner while you’re there, but you can get the skinny at visitplano.com.
Carrollton Festival at the Switchyard
Get ready for a day of live music, food, beer and plenty of interesting wares. There’s plenty in store for the kids, too, with an activity area, bungee trampolines, and more. The popular festival takes place Nov.6 in downtown Carrollton near Downtown Carrollton Station. Visit carrolltonfestival.com to find out more.
Untapped Festival
This is a craft beer & music festival series created to educate people about the hundreds of amazing craft beers brewed in the U.S. – especially in Texas – and to celebrate the people that brew them. There’s also plenty of live music, and this year’s headliners is TV on the Radio. It’s going on Nov. 12 at Fair Park, near Fair Park Stations.
