DART to Dallas’ Most Festive Spots

By Tricia White | Managing Editor

Now is the perfect time to enjoy the mild springtime weather at one of the many outdoorsy taverns in North Texas. In the mood for something stylish? Try a rooftop bar with spectacular views. Feeling more laid-back? An old-school bar with lots of outdoor space is just the ticket. This is only a small sampling of the places DART can take you.

Sips Under the Stars

Spring weather is made for rooftop bars, and DART takes you to some of the best in town.

Happiest Hour offers stunning views of the city and cocktails in the open air. The tavern is in the Victory Park neighborhood, and is served by Victory Station on the Green and Orange lines, as well as the TRE.

On top ofthe Canvas Hotel in the Cedars neighborhood, catch one of the best views you’ll find of downtown Dallas – at the Gallery Rooftop Lounge. There, you’llfind an infinity pool, fire pits, and a sweeping panorama of the skyline. You can walk to it from Cedars Station on the Red and Blue lines.

You’ll get a unique perspective at Sky Blossom. That’s because this Vietnamese-fusion rooftop bistro in the middle of downtown offers a great view of the Giant Eyeball. It’s right around the corner from Akard Station on the Red, Blue, Green, and Orange lines.

Down-Home Bars

DART takes you to these low-key neighborhood joints that regulars call their own.

Looking for a local favorite? Check out Lee Harvey’s. With picnic tables and fire pits, this classic dive bar in the Cedars has a great jukebox when there’s not live music. It’s walkable from Cedars Station on the Red and Blue lines.

If a sports bar withlots of outdoor space fits the bill, look no further than Bar W. This no-frills, divey Uptown sports bar has a large, open-air patio, affordable drinks, and a game room. You can walk there from the M-Line Trolley.

For a taste of Austin, head to The Rustic. Their massive, backyard-like patio features live country music and a modern cowboy vibe. The outdoorsy spot is next door to the west portal of Cityplace/Uptown Station (near the West Village), and is served by the Red, Blue, and Orange lines.

There are many other DARTable spots where you can relax over a cold one. In addition to the neighborhoods above, DART also takes you to Deep Ellum, Downtown Plano, Las Colinas, and many other entertainment hot spots. Explore them all!
