Renuvion Technology is Reshaping Cosmetic Surgery Options

By Alicia Wanek

More so this year than ever before, the beginning of fall is a perfect time for some personal TLC.  Most likely, you’ve been home with the kids for months, focusing on their needs without the usual distractions of trips and the typical summer activities.  Perhaps you’ve been looking at yourself more closely on all those Zoom calls and seeing the little imperfections you’d like to address.  Maybe with a less-hurried schedule you can finally carve out a little time to investigate the cosmetic procedure you’ve been considering. Whatever your motivation, the team at Regional Plastic Surgery Center (RPSC) is here to focus on YOU.

If you’re ready for a full “mommy makeover,” the renowned physicians at RPSC provide a full-range of cosmetic procedures to help you look your personal best.  You don’t necessarily need a large-scale approach to attain eye-catching and confidence-boosting results.  One of the newest minimally invasive options offered at RPSC is Renuvion, a skin-tightening procedure used to create firmer, smoother, tighter, and more lifted contours. Renuvion treats lax tissue by warming it with a combination of helium plasma and radiofrequency energy. This precisely controlled warming process causes the tissue to contract, which tightens the appearance of skin.  Dr. Chase Derrick of RPSC says, “This way of delivering heat to tissue has never been possible before now.”

Renuvion can be used almost anywhere you’re noticing an extra “sag,” whether it’s on your face or neck, chest, back, thighs, abdomen, or arms.

Dr. Derrick explains that Renuvion is really for those with minimal skin excess to help tighten the skin, but it’s often combined with liposuction for improved results. He explains that even when Renuvion is combined with liposuction, postop pain is similar to liposuction alone.  Making the decision to target those problem areas at this time when we’re somewhat homebound may have an added bonus. “In addition,” Dr. Denton Watumull of RPSC points out “working from home allows for patients to recover in the comfort of their own homes while not taking time off from work or school. COVID-19 quarantines have created a window of opportunity for patients to stay at home while bruising and swelling from their procedures subside.”

With this revolutionary procedure, Dr. Derrick adds that “Renuvion allows us to treat patients with minimal skin excess to induce tissue contraction, often helping us avoid the need for larger incisions.” The physicians meet with every patient to determine if you can get the results you’re looking for with Renuvion or if other options are better suited for you.

For the patients who have sought tighter, younger-looking skin with the Renuvion procedure, the results are dramatic.  Even better, the results continue to improve as the body’s natural healing processes create new collagen fibers to further enhance skin elasticity.  Dr. Derrick says Renuvion allows for “initial contraction with continued contraction up to one year after surgery.”  That’s a long time!  After the chaos of 2020, we can only hope that next year we’ll all be experiencing more face-to-face interaction with friends and family.  When that time comes, wouldn’t it be nice if everyone tells you how great you look?
