The Southwest Jewish Congress (SWJC) is an independent Texas non-profit organization founded in 2009. SWJC is a membership organization open to all that welcomes diversity and builds bridges throughout our community. We provide free educational programs and events supporting U.S. Constitutional and human rights; regarding Jewish culture and history; promoting Israel and its role in the world; and honoring those who have significantly contributed to the advancement of our society, culture and lives.  Membership is comprised of Jews and non-Jews, conservatives and liberals, multi-generations with various ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. All members of SWJC work together to encourage and develop leadership through volunteerism.

The Inspiring Women of the Southwest Awards is named in loving memory of the founder, past recipient and our dear friend, Audrey Kaplan. Audrey’s passion and generosity for women’s issues and progressive causes led to the establishment of this award. The Inspiring Women of the Southwest Awards are presented to women from diverse disciplines and backgrounds. They have been diligent in the pursuit of positive social change, and who, as role models, have made an impact on our communities, either local or regionally. These inspiring women advocate for inclusiveness in our society and support positions consistent with the mission of SWJC.

The Men of Action Awards are named in loving memory of Stan Golden, the Quintessential Man of Action.  Stan’s professional career, personal activities and volunteer efforts on behalf of Southwest Jewish Congress and numerous other organizations, set the high standards for this prestigious award. The SWJC Stan Golden Men of Action Awards recognize men from diverse disciplines and backgrounds in the DFW area who have distinguished themselves in the pursuit of positive social change and who have made an impact on our communities both as role models and trail blazers.  These Men of Action support the mission of SWJC, which includes celebrating American unity through cultural and multi-faith diversity in our community.

The Future Inspiring Women (inaugurated in 2014) and the Future Men of Action (inaugurated in 2016) are presented to young men and women who have completed exemplary achievements in community service.  These young adults are the face of the future and are aligned with the mission of SWJC.
