10 GoodLifeFamilyMag.com JULY | AUGUST 2019 SUMMER LOVE-IN! Oh, the joys of summer! I am definitely not immune to the scorching southern sun, and I look forward to my family’s annual week-long escape from the Texas heat to the cool Rocky Mountains, but I love summer because school is OUT and my kids are IN! Evenbeforetheywentofftocollege, summertime in our home was always a family affair. My husband and I offered our three kids the option to go to sleepaway camps, but they rarely partook. Instead, we hunkered down at home, enjoying pool basketball tournaments, leisurely dinners, binge- watching our favorite shows, and venturing out for local activities and staycation-style adventures. Now that summers together are dwindling, and college internships, study abroad, and full-time jobs are on the horizon, I relish these summer days surrounded by my kids more than ever. In this issue of Good Life Family we are celebrating the “Dog Days of Summer” in all their glory. You’ll find friendly spots to chill out, refreshing places to indulge in a frosty treat, some family-fun staycation and road trip options, and super suggestions for having fun with your 4-legged family members, too. Of course, we also share advice to take you into fall, including back-to-school fashions and transition tips, plus insightful feature stories to help you navigate the twists and turns on the road ahead. Life is good, and we hope you’ll find some ideas on the pages ahead to make it even better. As always, if you’ve got tips or recommendations to offer up, we are all ears! Good Life Family is written for you, about you, and with you. From our (Good Life) Family to yours, have a safe and happy summer! JOIN OUR FAMILY!
