b'goodTIMESTWUS DALLAS LEADERSHIP LUNCHEON AND18THANNUAL VIRGINIA CHANDLER DYKES LEADERSHIP AWARDA sold-out crowd of 300 attended the TWU Dallas Leadership Luncheon to celebrate the 18thAnnual Virginia Chandler Dykes Leadership Award RecipientJennifer Staubach Gates, a lifelong Dallas resident now in her fourth term representing District 13 on the Dallas City Council. The award is given annually to Dallas leaders dedicated to improving the quality of life in the community and to furthering the importance of education. The luncheon was founded by TWU Alumna and VisionaryVirginia Chandler Dykes, now 90-years-old. The annual event also recognizes the achievements of five scholarship award recipients. Since beginning 18 years ago, the luncheon has raised almost $1 million for scholarships for TWU graduate students and raised $110,000 from this years proceeds. The five 2020 scholarship recipients are:Lou Ann Hintzof Lubbock, College of Health Sciences;Nisha Mathewsof Houston, College of Nursing;Aubree Evansof Denton, College of Arts and Sciences;Alex Connerof Burleson, College of Business; andLorna Durrantof Cleburne, College of Professional Education.
