The State Fair of Texas has announced that applications for the 2022 Fall Grant Cycle are now available online. Nonprofit organizations with a focus on economic development, capacity building for nonprofits, educational programming, and social and racial justice serving the South Dallas/Fair Park community are encouraged to apply at BigTex.com/Grants

“As a neighbor in the South Dallas community, the Fair is proud to continue our commitment to supporting nonprofits that provide services in our area,” said Mitchell Glieber, president of the State Fair of Texas. “As a nonprofit ourselves, we understand these entities rely on year-round generosity from volunteers and other organizations.”

Created in 2016, the Fair’s community giving program offers opportunities to local nonprofits to receive financial support during designated cycles throughout the year.

A program total of approximately $3.3 million has been given through 335 donations to local nonprofits, impacting approximately 657,200 people in our community.

The fall cycle is currently open and will close on September 26, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. CT. Nonprofits within a 10-mile radius of Fair Park are eligible to apply for the State Fair of Texas grant program, with special priority given to nonprofits located in the zip codes 75210, 75215, 75223, and 75228.

There are many needs in the South Dallas and Fair Park area, and we know our grants continue to be exponentially more powerful in serving folks in our community. It’s crucial that we continue to partner with a variety of local nonprofits and provide them with adequate support and resources so that together we can make a difference,” said Glieber. “The support we provide to South Dallas is integral to the Fair, and we are dedicated to helping build a stronger community.”

The Fair’s community affairs department uses our core initiatives to center our programming. We focus on fostering long-term sustainability by targeting issues at their roots – including building the capacity of local nonprofits, supporting education in local schools, and proactively examining opportunities for economic development. In addition to the community giving program, key initiatives include growing and donating fresh produce to the community through Big Tex Urban Farms, gathering and providing networking opportunities for organizations through events like Community Engagement Day and the Pastors Luncheon, and collaborating with Big Thought to create TEKS-aligned curriculum for Texas students.  Interested applicants can learn more and apply at BigTex.com/Grants
