DSO on the GO Comes to St. Andrew United Methodist Church

Dallas Symphony Orchestra selects St. Andrew as a location for its popular DSO on the GO series, reaching audiences in the Plano and Collin County area

The Dallas Symphony Orchestra has selected St. Andrew United Methodist Church as a location for its DSO on the GO series and will hold its first concert in the sanctuary on Sunday, September 8, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. (including a 20-minute intermission), at 5801 W. Plano Parkway, Plano.  This concert will feature Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and Piazzolla’s Four Seasons of Buenos Aires.

Additionally, a child-friendly, interactive prelude, including some orchestra instruments kids may play will take place at 3:15 p.m. in the Narthex.  Also, at 2:30 p.m. in the sanctuary, attendees are invited to an interactive, multi-generational pre-concert lecture regarding the music the symphony will perform, hosted by Jamie Allen, director of education, Dallas Symphony Orchestra.

DSO on the GO is a series started in 2012 that brings the Dallas Symphony Orchestra to communities around the Metroplex and beyond the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center. The series has stretched from Mansfield to Terrell, from Duncanville to Frisco and from Oak Cliff to Highland Park.

“The Dallas Symphony is delighted to bring the DSO on the GO series to Plano’s St. Andrew United Methodist Church on Sunday, September 8,” said Kim Noltemy, President & CEO of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. “The concert pairs two versions of The Four Seasons together: the beloved, traditional version by Vivaldi and a tango-infused version by Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla. DSO Associate Concertmaster Eunice Keem will lead the Vivaldi, and Co-Concertmaster Nathan Olson will lead the Piazzolla. Prior to this performance, audiences can enjoy a Performance Prelude and Instrument Petting Zoo, activities for the entire family.”

“We are incredibly excited about our upcoming collaborations with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra,” said Taylor Davis, director of music and worship arts, St. Andrew UMC. “This is a wonderful opportunity for Plano families to enjoy the extraordinary talents of the DSO close to home. We hope to see you at the first DSO on the Go event at St. Andrew on September 8.”

General Admission tickets are $19 and student tickets are $5. Visit mydso.com to purchase tickets.
