On September 11, 2025, in honor of the federally-recognized September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance (“9/11 Day”), more than 1,300 volunteers from North Texas will join together to pack more than 380,000 healthy, non-perishable meals for those at risk of hunger, reflecting the spirit of unity and good deeds Americans everywhere engaged in in the aftermath of the 2001 terrorist attacks. Marking the 24th anniversary of the attacks as well as Hunger Action Month, meals packed during the North Texas 9/11 Day service project will be donated to the North Texas Food Bank for distribution to local individuals and families in need. The event will be held at Globe Life Field from 9:00 – 11:00 A.M., and from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M.

Nearly 30 million Americans are expected to participate in the national observance by doing good deeds on September 11, 2025.

According to Feeding America, more than 47 million Americans face food insecurity in the United States. In fact, hunger touches every county in the U.S.

Now in its sixth year, the North Texas Meal Pack for 9/11 Day is one of 25 large-scale volunteer service projects being organized in 24 cities throughout the nation by the nonprofit 9/11 Day, which began the observance in 2002. Across the U.S., more than 30,000 individuals are expected to volunteer at 9/11 Day’s signature Meal Pack events, assembling more than nine million shelf-stable meals for food insecure Americans.  All told, about 30 million Americans are expected to participate in the national observance by doing good deeds on September 11, 2025.

This year’s guest of honor is Dallas resident Darin Kinder, a retired U.S. Secret Service Special Agent who spent 25 years protecting presidents and dignitaries. On 9/11, Kinder was on the ground at the World Trade Center, where he risked his life to aid survivors and secure the site. For his actions, he was awarded the Secret Service Medal of Valor. In August, he published his first book, Bury Me in a Dirty Suit: Discovering Man’s Valiant Purpose in the Aftermath of 9/11.

The 9/11 Day Meal Pack Program is sponsored nationally by the federal agency AmeriCorps, which oversees national service programs throughout the United States, and by Reliance, Inc. and Delta Air Lines.  Other national sponsors include SRS Raise the Roof Foundation, MUFG, Holland & Knight, JPMorganChase, Pfizer Foundation, Tractor Supply Co. Foundation, Stifel, KBW, Western Alliance Bank, and Nestlé.

380,000 meals will be packed and donated locally in observance of 9/11 Day, the federally-recognized September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, transforming the anniversary into to the largest day of service in America

More than 60 companies and organizations from throughout the North Texas community plan to support and participate in the North Texas Meal Pack for 9/11 Day. SRS Raise the Roof Foundation and MUFG have also joined as lead sponsors of the North Texas Meal Pack for 9/11 Day, along with AmeriHome Mortgage, Atmos Energy, Flowserve, Popeyes Foundation, Ruiz Foods, and Walmart.
