The Allen Philharmonic Orchestra & Symphony Chorus is proud to announce its first holiday program of the season, From Darkness to Light.

On Friday, Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m., the Allen Philharmonic Orchestra and Symphony Chorus will perform inside First United Methodist Church of Allen’s sanctuary at 601 S. Greenville Ave. in Allen, Texas. Concert programming is designed to move the audience from the quiet and thoughtful beginning of December to the excitement and joy of the holiday season.  Selections include Lux Aurumque, Candlelight Carol, City of Stars, and traditional Christmas Carols.  The highlight of the performance is the Bach Magnificat.  One of the most magnificent works in the whole choral repertory, this work stands alongside Bach’s other supreme choral masterpieces.

From Darkness to Light will mark the first of three December programs for the Allen Philharmonic, along with its Tuba Christmas event on Dec. 10 and its partnership with the Allen Civic Ballet for Nutcracker on Dec. 17 and Dec. 18.

“We always look forward to our December programs, and it’s great to be able to perform so many different programs for our community,” said Allen Philharmonic President Kathy Litinas. “and our orchestra and symphony chorus can’t wait to ring in the holidays with the beloved sounds and songs of the season. We hope everyone can make it to one, or all, of our December shows and help us foster a community-wide appreciation for music.”
