The Family Place Announces Shelle Sills as Honorary Chair of 2022 Fundraiser

The largest family violence service agency in Texas, The Family Place, is thrilled to announce Shelle Sills as the Honorary Chair of ReuNight, the nonprofit’s annual spring fundraiser. The night to remember falls on Thursday, May 12 at 7 p.m. at the Nasher Sculpture Center Garden. This year’s ReuNight theme will be An Evening in Provence. Each year, the limited number of guests who attend ReuNight enjoy an exclusive dinner and live auction fundraiser benefiting the impactful work of The Family Place creating brighter futures for survivors of family violence. 

Honorary Chair Shelle Sills joins event Co-chairs Marisa Howard, Roni Proter Kelly and Max Trowbridge in support of the event, all of whom are esteemed Dallas community members. 

Sills is a native Dallasite and a graduate of Southern Methodist University, has been a part of the retail industry for more than 30 years in various capacities. For 17 years, she owned and operated The Gazebo, a women’s specialty store. In 1999, she joined Neiman Marcus as vice president and general manager of the downtown flagship store. She left Neiman Marcus in 2012 to direct retail and special projects as a consultant for Headington Companies from 2013 through 2019. Most recently, she was executive vice president of Centennial Real Estate Corporation. 

Sills presently serves as chairman of the board of the Salvation Army and was underwriting chairman of The Crystal Charity Ball in 2019, where she currently is an active member. She is a board member of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Camp Sweeney/Southwest Diabetic Foundation, and the Baylor Scott & White Foundation. She also serves on the advisory board for Council for Life, Cattle Barons Ball and serves as an advisor to the St. Philip’s School and Community Center. She is a member of Charter 100, Dallas Assembly, and the Dallas Woman’s Club. 

At this year’s ReuNight event, 175 patrons will be seated at outdoor tables under the sparkling stars in the Sculpture Gardens of the Nasher Sculpture Center, nestled among works of art by modern masters. Respected leaders and philanthropists across North Texas fill the guest list each year and enjoy an unforgettable evening. 

The ReuNight fundraising evening will consist of a four-course, coastal French-themed dinner provided by Wolfgang Puck Catering and a luxury live auction to follow. Guests will enjoy a night of entertainment, elite service, and devotion to an excellent cause.

In 1978 a group of community volunteers organized The Family Place as one of the first family violence shelters in the state. Today The Family Place is the largest family violence service provider in Texas, with three emergency shelters providing 177 shelter beds each night, including the state’s only shelter for men and children, and three counseling centers. We served 9,466 clients last year providing 65,630 days of emergency shelter, 21,036 days of transitional housing, 22,717 hours of counseling to nonresidential clients, and 10,465 hours of counseling to batterers.
