DART to Summer Vacation

By Lindsey Lilly | Contributor

When you’re ready to start planning your post-pandemic travel, DART is ready. Both of the North Texas region’s airports are accessible via DART.

Whether you’re riding DART to the airport or to a local attraction or destination, please note that the mask mandate is still in effect on the DART System. If you forget your mask, you will find mask dispensers on DART vehicles.

Here’s how to make DART the first leg of your journey.

Orange Line to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. Start at any DART light rail station and get on the Orange Line bound for DFW Airport Terminal A. Your vacation has officially begun! If your flight leaves from one of the other terminals, the airport provides Terminal Link bus shuttles outside of security, and the SkyLink people mover inside security. These will get you where you need to go.

Dallas Love Field via Love Link (Bus Route 524). Both the Orange and Green lines will take you to Inwood/Love Field Station, where you can connect to the Love Link. The service circulates between Inwood/Love Field Station and the airport, where the bus makes two stops (one of them right outside the baggage claim area). It’s an 8-minute ride, and the bus leaves every 15-20 minutes for most of the service day. (You can check out detailed schedule information here.) You’ll find easy-to-follow signage at both the rail station and the airport; there’s also an interactive, touchscreen kiosk at Dallas Love Field, which offers trip-planning tools to help you plan your ground travel.

Whether you are traveling by rail, bus or both, DART’s free GoPass® app is a great travel tool. You can purchase tickets on the app, learn when the next bus or train will arrive, and more. Downloaded GoPass from the App Store or Google Play store.

DART TO LOCAL SUMMER FUN

DART to Arts & Culture

If a cultural experience is what you’re after, ride any DART Rail Line into downtown Dallas and enjoy all the Dallas Arts District has to offer, including the Dallas Museum of Art, Nasher Sculpture Center, Crow Collection of Asian Art, Perot Museum of Nature and Science, Dallas Holocaust Museum, the JFK Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza, and more.

There also are museums beyond downtown that offer a unique experience, including the African American Museum in Dallas and the Cavanaugh Flight Museum in Addison.

DART to Historical Downtowns

What’s old is new again in the quaint downtown areas of Carrollton, Garland and Plano. All three towns can point to a history in rail – beginning in the 1870s for Carrollton and Plano, and the 1880s for Garland – and each has experienced a downtown resurgence thanks in part to DART. For more exploration, transfer from DART Rail to the Trinity Railway Express to discover Fort Worth or DCTA’s A-train to visit Denton’s funky downtown square.

Editor’s Note: Plan your DARTable experience using travel tools in DART’s GoPass app or on DART.org. Questions? Call DART Customer Service at 214-979-1111.
