Catch a Local (Spring) Break!

This spring break get your family time on track with a DARTable staycation. Getting there is half the adventure! Here are a few of the unique destinations and experiences that are just a short walk from a DART rail station or bus stop.

Go Wild, Go West

Every child (and child at heart) enjoys feeding the giraffes at the Dallas Zoo (Red Line to Dallas Zoo Station). Don’t forget the animals in Fort Worth, though. Take the TRE from Dallas’ Union Station and head to Fort Worth ITC Station. Then, let Molly the Trolley and FWTA buses take your family to a barrel-full of Cowtown fun, including the Fort Worth Zoo, Sundance Square and the Fort Worth Stockyards!

Hop on for FREE. Hop off for FUN

Downtown more your thing? You’ll see the best of downtown Dallas on D-Link, a free downtown circulator. The bright magenta-and-yellow buses connect you to destinations like the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza, the Nasher Sculpture Center, Dallas Farmers Market and more.

Find Gems in Garland

Want something more off the beaten path? Show up your kids with some old-school arcade fun at Nickelrama (bus route 400 or 566 to Belt Line at Brand); take in a family-friendly movie for free at The Plaza Theater (Blue Line to Downtown Garland Station); or enjoy a live performance at the Granville Arts Center (Blue Line to Downtown Garland Station).

Head Downtown (Plano, that is)

Walkable family adventures abound in downtown Plano (Red or Orange Line to Downtown Plano Station)! Take the kids to unique shops and restaurants on and around 15th Street, and teach them about Texas’ railroad roots at the Interurban Railway Museum. Then pop over for some outdoor time at nearby Haggard Park, or see a play at the Courtyard or Cox theaters.
