Step into a Spa Oasis… at Home!

By Erin O’Connell

Where’s nothing like a day at the spa. The mental health benefits of deep relaxation are reason enough to spend more time treating yourself to a day of pampering. And while there’s nothing wrong with the occasional trip to the day spa, wouldn’t it be nice if you could simply walk a few steps into a Narnia-esque spa haven, right in your own bathroom?

Curtis Dorian, president and CEO of Dorian Bahr Interior Designs, explains that we are moving toward a lifestyle of luxury while staying at home, and Dorian Bahr’s services make it easy to convert your master bath into a spa-like getaway.

“Everybody wants all the amenities in their home,” Dorian shares. “They want to walk into an en suite from the master bedroom, and they want their bathrooms to be outfitted with the amenities that make their life wonderful.”

Dorian states that air baths with chromatherapy lights, soaker tubs with jet massagers, steam showers with aromatherapy add-ons and handheld bath faucets are all amenities that his company offers for the ultimate spa-like experience in your own home. Whether you choose to do a complete bathroom renovation or simply add a few new products, you’re only a few steps away from your spa sanctuary.

Appearance Matters

Candy Hudson, broker and owner of Century 21 Hudson Realtors, advises clients that appearance matters when showing homes, and these tips can be applied to your own bathroom redesign to give it the spa-like appeal. “Make your bathroom sparkle. It must be clean,” she says. “Make updates with modern faucets, cabinet hardware and lighting. Put out new towels and throw rugs to bring in your color design. Have only a decorative soap dispenser, plant or candle out on the counter or tub ledge. Make your bathroom look like a spa.”

Don’t Forget the Products

Once you’ve converted your bathroom, ensure you have the appropriate items to truly turn it into your home-spa. Invest in a high-quality fleece robe, an essential oil diffuser, luxury bubble bath, a bathtub caddy and oversized, fluffy towels. You can even make a spa playlist to help deepen your relaxation. With the right products and everything you need at your fingertips, you might never leave the house again.

Take Time For Yourself

Finally, block time in your schedule for yourself. After the table has been cleared and the kids have gone to bed, allow some time for self-care. Spare time might be rare, but carving out even just a few minutes for yourself each week is critical for reaching a relaxed state of mind. Pull out the candles, pour some bubbly and reach for your favorite book. Tonight’s all about you.
