DART Around DFW For Summer Fun

There are many DARTable destinations that appeal to every member of the family. The buses and trains both have low-floor areas that can handle anything from wagons to walkers. So, gather up the whole family and explore North Texas!

Who doesn’t love animals – and trains? So, it’s double-fun to take the Red Line to the front entrance of the Dallas Zoo, where 8,000 animals await. The zoo gives visitors a journey through several distinct wildlife habitats, which offer interactive experiences such as feeding birds, lorikeets, and even giraffes – and it also offers discounts to children and seniors.

DART empowers you to discover the area’s coolest neighborhoods. Take the M-Line trolley to Uptown, a tried-and-true favorite full of restaurants, shops, and watering holes. Or branch out a little. Downtown Carrollton is a thriving hub with similar offerings, but in a quainter environment. Take the Green Line to the Downtown Carrollton Station.

Plano’s Courtyard Theater (Downtown Plano Station) and Richardson’s Eisemann Center for Performing Arts (Galatyn Park Station) are both steps from the Red Line, but there are plenty of other DARTable places to see a show. From the Granville Arts Center (Downtown Garland Station) to The Firehouse Theatre (Farmers Branch Station) to the WaterTower Theatre (Addison Transit Center) to the Mustangs of Las Colinas Museum (Las Colinas Urban Center Station), DART can take you to some of the best performance venues around.

Senior citizens are especially welcome at our region’s cultural institutions. Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas World Aquarium, Nasher Sculpture Center and The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza are all DARTable, and they also give reduced admission to seniors. DART offers reduced fares to seniors over 65, too, with a valid DART photo ID.

Editor’s Note:  These suggestions barely scratch the surface!
