DART Is Your Ride to Pre-Prom Activities

You made it! Your hard work and sacrifice has paid off and soon you’ll walk across the stage and receive your high school diploma. But before that, you’ll likely participate in one of the most memorable celebrations for seniors – prom night. And DART can help you make this night even more memorable.

Prom night is a chance to “dress to the nines,” spend good times with friends, show off your dance moves, and so much more. It’s something you’ll remember for the rest of your life, so who wants to limit their group size? Each DART train car holds more than 100 people, so you can skip that awkward conversation about who can’t ride with you.

With 90 miles of light rail and 62 stations, DART opens up a world of possibilities for pre-prom pictures and dinner.

Fountains, ponds and public artwork can be found all across the DART Rail System and serve as a perfect backdrop for prom photos. Some suggestions include Haggard Park at Downtown Plano Station, The Mustangs near Las Colinas Urban Center Station, the rose garden near Farmers Branch Station, or the gazebo at Downtown Carrollton Station.

Prom dinner can be as memorable as the dance itself. Whether you are looking for a more upscale restaurant experience or super casual dining, DART can get you there. Steps from Downtown Plano Station, you have a myriad of choices, from brick-oven pizza to Tex-Mex cuisine. Mockingbird Station also offers access to restaurants that will satisfy just about every palette, taste and budget.

Another dining hotspot can be found near Pearl/Arts District Station. There you will find everything from sushi to tacos and enchiladas. You can take the Orange Line to Las Colinas Urban Center Station and stroll along scenic Lake Carolyn to Las Colinas Boulevard where you will find abundant dining, including Japanese, Italian and American fare.

Visit DART.org/DARTable for a list of other possibilities. And be sure to download the free GoPassSM app. It’s a great travel tool! You can purchase DART passes on the app, and learn when the next bus or train will arrive or leave from any station. The app also features a trip planner to help you get to your destination, and even offers a section highlighting local events accessible by transit. Download the GoPass app from the App Store or the Google Play store.
