Can you put a price on peace of mind?

Can you put a price on peace of mind? In many ways, life insurance does just that.

“What would happen if your income was gone tomorrow?” asks Bobby Davidson, a Dallas-based independent insurance agent. It’s not something any of us really wants to think about, but insurance is the best way to make sure your loved ones are taken care of after you’re gone.

But what type of policy? How large? Which provider to use? It can be confusing and overwhelming.

Put yourself in the driver’s seat with an independent agent as your GPS. There may be a couple of routes to go, and agents like Davidson can give you the options to get you where you need to be. Independent agents have the advantage of being able to examine your individual needs to find which company – or companies – offer policies that fit them best.

“I want to purchase insurance, not be sold insurance,” says Sara Johnson, a local mother of three. An independent agent offers a level of objectivity that allows you the power to make informed decisions with professional guidance.

A good agent will also stand by you long after your policy starts.   Just like a medical check-up, you need an insurance check-up to re-examine your policies to see if they are still the best fit for you. As the old saying goes, “The only thing that is constant is change.” As your family and financial situations change, your life insurance needs will change, too.

“Most of my clients have been with me for over 25 years, and we still meet regularly to discuss their policies to ensure that they have exactly what they need.   In some cases, like when your children are minors, you need more life insurance than once they are out on their own,” says Davidson. “In my experience, most people are not covered adequately. Ask yourself in the event the wage earner passes away, how much money would it take for the spouse to maintain that lifestyle? Most of us just want to know we’ve taken care of our family.”

By far the MOST important decision is to do it NOW. Don’t put it off. Give yourself that peace of mind as soon as you can – it’s worth it.
