Genesis Women’s Shelter Luncheon
Over 1600 guests attended the 23rd Annual Luncheon where they were captivated by Tyler Perry’s raw and emotional account of his childhood. The actor, director, and playwright grew up in a violent home, physically and emotionally abused by his father, and he witnessed his late mother’s abuse by the same hands.
Ron Corning of WFAA, Channel 8, served as the master of ceremonies and moderator.
Roger Staubach was honored with the 2016 HeRO Award for his public, zero-tolerance stand against domestic abuse.
This event was buoyed by the incredible, million-dollar matching pledge made by Nancy and Richard Rogers.
